Heat oven to 350░. Grease square pan, 9 x 9 x 2 inches. In a large bowl mix sugar, shortening, vanilla and eggs until combined. Stir in flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt until well blended.
Spread batter in pan. Sprinkle pecans over batter before inserting in oven. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until toothpick at center comes out clean.
Heat caramel candies and milk over low heat, stirring frequently, until caramels are melted. Drizzle mixture over warm brownies. Cool completely.
